However, | did have a fairly lengthy talk with Courtney. She is more focused on her current situation than this case. But she told me that she does not want to settle now. She wants the case to move forward. She understands the risks. There is a much longer explanation, but it is unnecessary at this point. | know that there is no guarantee that the current offers will remain on the table and have assumed they would not. We should work out a briefing schedule, and | would just ask that you coordinate with Paul as | am going to be completely out of touch until September. | know this is not what you want to hear and frankly not the message | expected to be delivering. To make sure this was Courtney’s firm and final decision | spoke to her twice to confirm. Sincerely, wal Farmer, Jaffe, Weissing, Edwards, Fistos & Lehrman, P.L. Sent: 1, F To: Brad Edwards <brad@pathtojustice.com> Subject: Follow up re Jane Doe case Hi Brad — Have you had a chance to speak to Courtney yet? We would like to recommend that we all get together again to try to reach a final agreement, get all the documents signed, and schedule the hearing with Judge Marra, the meeting with the U.S. Attorney, and the meeting in DC. We would like to recommend some time during the week of August 22", That way, Courtney will have had her hearing in Tampa and she will either be out of custody, or we can arrange to meet with her somewhere outside the jail in Tampa. If we are unsuccessful, then we can set a briefing schedule to finalize the summary judgment situation. I think you probably need to meet with Courtney in advance of the joint meeting, and if you need help setting that up, or even just setting up a private call with Courtney to discuss the case, let me know. I can try to work with the FBI to have Courtney released into their custody for a day to discuss the case with you. Just give me an update when you can. Thank you.
